Baumann was training on the uneven bars in late June when she says she slipped onto her hands and dislocated her elbow.

“As most of you know I am supposed to be competing in the Olympic trials next week, but yesterday during training I hurt my elbow. It will require surgery very soon. I never thought this would happen. This is obviously not how I wanted things to end, and I’m still in shock and completely devastated,” she wrote.

Aly Raisman wrote to Alyssa “My heart broke last night when you told me. I’m so so sorry. I love you so much. This just isn’t fair. I will always cherish rooming with you and I’m looking forward to more memories together. You will always be one of the best beam workers, the best dancer & best at turns on floor. Thanks for inspiring all of us.”

Nastia Liukin added, “Watching you every step of the way from you walking in the doors at WOGA at just 3 years old, to becoming a World Champion..I will forever be so proud of you.”

In November of 2015 Alyssa committed to the Gators.
