Gymnasts Ellis O’Reilly & Dipa Karmakar make Olympic History

[/su_column] [su_column size=”1/2″] Ellis O’Reilly created history in the early hours of the morning when she became the first Irish female gymnast to qualify for an Olympic Games.
The 18-year-old captured a place at the Rio 2016 through her performance at the Aquecce Rio test event, the final qualifying event for the Games.
London- born O’Reilly, who qualifies for Ireland through her Irish grandmother, said of becoming the first Irish female gymnast to qualify for the Olympics: “It’s pretty amazing really. I feel really proud of myself.”

[/su_column] [su_column size=”1/2″] Dipa Karmakar on Monday created history by becoming the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for Olympics as she booked a berth for the Rio Games after a strong performance at the final qualifying and test event.
The 22-year-old garnered a total score of 52.698 points in the Olympics qualifying event to book a berth for artistic gymnastics in Rio Games.
Dipa has been listed as the 79th gymnast among individual qualifiers in the list of women’s artistic gymnast who have qualified for the Rio Olympics.
