“I want to thank Rene for her service to ASU, especially her commitment to academic excellence and community service,” Anderson said. “Ralph Rosso will serve as interim head coach and we will conduct a national search for a new head coach that is the best fit for our program, university and community.”

ASU athletics released a short statement about Lyst’s leave saying “the university cannot make any other comment regarding this topic as it is a personnel/HR issue.” It is not yet known whether Lyst will return in 2016-17.

Prior to ASU, Lyst was co-head coach at Arkansas for 13 years. She replaced John Spini, who retired after 34 seasons. Under Lyst, ASU was 2-11 in duals and eighth in the Pac-12 in 2015 then 1-11 in duals and eighth in the Pac-12 in 2016.
